my name is katie and i'm the owner and artist behind my stationery shop, lumi's howse, based in california!

as early as i can remember, art has always been at the forefront of my life. when i was a kid, my dad would create funny comics about made-up stories of my toys and draw original cartoons. he also introduced me to a couple of my favorite cartoons, such as winnie the pooh, peanuts, and calvin and hobbes. i was fascinated by how drawings can tell stories and express meaningful life messagings. this left me feeling inspired, so i began creating my own comics and drawings about the intricate emotions of life. some of these drawings ended up alongside journal entries, where i wrote out my thoughts and experiences day-to-day. 

while i was in university, the pandemic hit and i struggled through school. additionally, i was feeling significantly burnt out and anxious from work. during my free time, i learned how to turn my drawings into stickers and discovered delight through this creative outlet. drawing helped me to intentionally slow down and it became a source of comfort during this difficult period. 

after graduating, i decided to pursue art full-time. i created lumi’s howse to inspire slow living and comfort in everyday life through cozy illustrations that feel like a warm cup of tea on a cold day. it is my hope that the messages reflected in my drawings and my characters’ stories bring connection and warmth to others.
