among the stars

among the stars is a collection about hope. before i decided to pursue art, i was doing work that didn’t fuel me and left me feeling burnt out all the time. i was beginning to lose hope in my career and wondered if things would ever improve. however, during this time i was drawing illustrations and writing to express the experiences in my day-to day life. doing this brought joy to me and became an escape for me during this difficult time.

one of my pieces of writing that came from this experience is a poem about finding hope among the stars:

Hidden Stars

The clouds hid the stars and I became lost

The fog rolled in and the world was grey

I was scared to face the bitter winds

I searched and searched, but the stars were out of reach

But as I walked, the clouds began to part

I heard the laughter of the stars

They danced and pranced with delight

They reached down and wrapped me in their arms

I flew so high, I felt so free

The night kissed me farewell as I opened up my eyes

I was greeted with apricity

Maybe, just maybe, there is hope among the stars

i was inspired to create illustrations that reflected this poem. i began to feel hopeful through art. it is my hope that this collection can provide you with a sense of hope and comfort, however you may need it in this chaotic world. i truly hope that this year has been treating you with kindness and brings you the strength to overcome challenges. i’m rooting for you!
